Juicing: It’s More Than Just a Fad and Here’s Why You Should Try It
If you haven’t heard already that health is wealth, then you should probably figure it out and fast. The food that we are consuming in recent years is not even recognizable as food anymore. Well most of it, from the amount of processed foods and junk that we are stuffing our faces with it’s a wonder most of us are even still alive and functioning. Today factory farmed animal product is a huge industry, while fewer than 100 years ago this was inconceivable. Most people either grew or raised their own food or looked to local areas to get their food. Our fruits and veggies contain fewer vitamins and minerals due to pesticide and chemical fertilizers, disrupting soil quality, and run-off from animal factory farms polluting the soil. We need to change our food production from high yield to high nutrients content.
Our culture revolves so much around food, but we don’t respect our food. We expect shortcuts and faster food, instead of taking the time and appreciation and prepare a meal. I can’t blame this shift in food due to everything becoming faster from our technology to our everyday lives. But this shift is taking a toll on our bodies and our minds and therefore affecting our overall health. When our health starts to go downhill not only is it a scary experience but a costly one at that, even with health insurance. Thankfully not all is lost since there is so much information about health and natural healing at our fingertips and one way to get adequate nutrients is through juicing.
What Is Juicing
Juicing is the process of extracting the natural liquids, vitamins, and minerals from raw fruits and vegetables. Fruit and vegetable juice is loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, and phytonutrients all in one easy to make drink. Because there is no heat used in the process of juicing, all of the nutrients are readily available to consume, and the body easily absorbs the nutrients. The best way to juice is to get a juicer or you can get a blender and sift out the juice from the pulp.
- Benefits of Juicing
- More nutrient absorption due to the gut not digesting fiber
- Consume more fruits and vegetables in your diet
- Feeds good gut bacteria
- Helps fight cancer
- Helps lower high cholesterol
- Detoxify the body
- Lowers blood sugar
- Better skin
With our food not adequately always providing us with all the nutrients that we require, juicing is a great way to make sure you are truly feeding your body. Not only does it benefit your health in the long run, but you will start to feel better as well. We are constantly being bombarded with chemicals and harmful agents, from what we consume to what we put on our skin. When we start at look at health as prevention instead of curing something when it hits us, our lives and bodies will be changed for the better.
